Wedding Bells in Spokane

At the end of June, we went to Spokane, WA, to officiate at Canyondancer's brother's wedding.  It was great fun: a non-denominational Christian rite with a few elements of handfasting added.  And though the bride walked up the aisle quite traditionally, brother Rob really did ride up on his Harley, and was, of course, applauded.

(Here are a few pix.  We blurred the bride and groom a little, just in case they'd like their privacy.  The tent's set up in their back yard, and the reception was on a deck they built themselves.)

We had never met Rob's fiancé, but by the end of the weekend, it didn't feel like this was the first time we'd met her and her family.  We also got to meet Rob's son for the first time, and his bride of seven months.  We saw our niece for the first time in nearly 30 years, and met two of her kids ....

We found Spokane to be lovely -- although with the weather heating up to 97° and somewhere around 30% humidity (just like monsoon season here in Tucson) we were the only ones not suffering -- and we enjoyed the little bit of sightseeing we had time for.  Thanks, Sherrie, for the tour and your hospitality!

We look forward to getting back there to see them again under not-quite-so-hectic circumstances, and get to know Rob's new family even better.  Maybe next time in May for the Lilac Festival!
The photographer kindly took this shot on our camera, one of three she was given to use.  When we get CDs of the rest of the pix, we'll have a photo of the ceremony with us and the bride and groom!
