It looks like 2011 is going to be a busy year!
Wednesday nights are reserved for our Dedicant classes: at Bride, an early-February Sabbat, four graduates of 2010's Adventure Wicca 101 course committed to a year-and-a-day's study toward initiation. Beyond the weekly lessons, they'll be participating in open rituals and camping trips with us.
TAWN meetings are on the second Sundays of most months; it's the third Sunday in May.
We enjoyed Ostara Village (the season's first camping trip) over the weekend of March 16-20. The weather was ridiculously wonderful!
Foursight, the coven we belong to (as "Gramma and Grampa Clergy") presented TAWN's open Ostara ritual on Saturday, March 26th. It went very well and we're proud of our Priestesses and our Dedicants.
We welcomed Hearth's Gate's priestess and priest, Murchadh and Vasalisa, back to Tucson over the Ostara weekend. We'd been looking forward to that homecoming for five years, and we're very happy to have them back . . . but the reunion was deeply saddened by the circumstances: M. and V. were injured and lost their 13-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, in an apartment fire. After a community memorial service after the March TAWN Cauldronluck, we held a private funeral for Elizabeth at the Traditionstead on the evening of April 4th. Farewell we bid you, darling.
Hearth's Gate will be active again in a few more weeks -- and then there'll be two Adventure covens in Tucson!
We celebrated our 25th annual Beltane in the woods over the last weekend in April.
Over the weekend of June 10-12, Ashleen was off to Connell, Washington, to meet with chaplains and prison ministers of other Pagan/Heathen faiths in the first-ever Pan-Pagan Festival in prison.
Foursight will also be presenting TAWN's open Samhain (pronounce it saw-wun; you may know it better as Halloween) on Sunday, October 23rd at 6:30 p.m. That ritual will be on Hippie Hill in Himmel Park, a block south of Speedway on the east side of Tucson Boulevard. It's open to the public too, so feel free to join us.
Ashleen's also a busy member of Gecko Gals Ink, a local writing collective that presents occasional seminars -- the first one on February 19th at the Sheraton Four Points (corner of Speedway and Campbell here in Tucson) -- and meets the public at lots of book signings. Click on the Gecko Gal icon to see their blog and check their schedule.
Foursight Coven's schedule is set months in advance. Generally, we're not available on full Moons or within a day or two of a Sabbat. For other dates you'd like to reserve, the earlier you can contact us, the better -- especially because for most rites and some workshops, particularly those involving travel, we like time to prepare!
